Pont Royal, Mallemort
Set Club, Aix-en-Provence
Sainte Victoire
GC de Aix-Marseille, Les Milles
Cabre d’Or
Tips from a friend, who stayed in the area for an exploration: GC International Pont Royal (golf-pontroyal.com), green fee 75 euros (designed by Ballesteros, ranked as the third most beautiful course in France), 25 km away – was the most beautiful course for all of us, both in terms of condition and course design. Set Golf Aix-en-Provence used to operate under a different name and had only 9 holes. It now has 18 holes and, at only 7 km, is the closest golf course. Quite okay, but not an absolute highlight. golf-aixenprovence.fr GC Sainte Victoire (saintevictoiregolfclub.com), designed by Robert Trent Jones II, about 30 km away to the east – for me, the second most beautiful course after Pont Royal; Very scenic, medium-length towpaths, but with plenty of uphill and downhill sections. Golf Club d'Aix Marseille (golfaixmarseille.com), about 12 km from Eguilles – very flat course with shorter towpaths, less scenic as it is located in an industrial area. La Cabre d'Or (golflacabredor.fr), green fee €58, about 16 km away – beautiful scenery, recently renovated. Some long towpaths "over hill and dale"; We only played once. Golf de Marseille-La Salette (opengolfclub.com) : Very short course, only 5,000 m, about an hour's drive,it's almost in Marseille, supposedly has a good restaurant – we didn't go there due to the distance. Overall, we found the two courses Pont Royal and Sainte Victoire to be the best in the region.
